Leukemia Ball Health & Safety Standards
*Last updated 05/12/2022. LLS will continue to monitor and follow the changing landscape involving the CDC regarding COVID-19 safety protocols and provide updates to this page.
As a mission-driven health organization, nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of blood cancer patients, their families, and the many staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and campaign participants who serve them. We are actively monitoring COVID numbers in the DC region and will be following all local guidelines. Masking is encouraged by not mandatory.
Here is what we are doing to protect your health and peace of mind:
As part of Marriott International’s family of brands, Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C. has implemented a variety of new protocols and elevated practices, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with our high standards of cleanliness and commitment to providing excellent service (as of March 2022, subject to change)
- Enhanced Public Space Cleaning: Marriott locations have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in areas with high traffic including restrooms, elevators, and escalators as well as provided more hand sanitizing stations.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Staff members will wear PPE (e.g., face coverings, gloves, etc.) based on the activities they are performing and based on direction by the local authorities. Food handlers are trained on safe food preparation and service practices.
- Electrostatic Spraying: We’re utilizing enhanced technologies, including electrostatic sprayers with hospital-grade disinfectants, to support our already rigorous cleanliness protocols.
- Signage throughout the hotel reminds guests to maintain social distancing, occupancy limits and seating capacities. Partitions are installed at the front desk, bell stand and valet desk for everyone’s safety.
As a research and advocacy organization, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is doing everything in our power to ensure public safety. We are requiring you to do your part as well in helping to protect vulnerable populations. Together, we can experience a safe and inspiring 35th annual Leukemia Ball.
