Congratulations to NFL Hall of Famer, Bobby Mitchell, the recipient of the 2014 James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award!
The James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award was established in memory of Jim Eichberg, a long-time volunteer and supporter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society who made service to others an integral part of his daily life. The award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of an individual who has demonstrated significant dedication and commitment to the mission of LLS, thereby making a significant impact on the lives of patients and families. The recipient will also have demonstrated the same longstanding commitment to community and volunteerism as the award’s namesake, James L. Eichberg.
Mr. Mitchell is a long-time volunteer and supporter of LLS who was instrumental in raising nearly $8 million for LLS. For 22 years, through The Bobby Mitchell Hall of Fame Golf Tournament, he brought together the largest gathering of Hall of Famers each year, outside of Canton, Ohio, to advance the mission of LLS. Refusing to simply lend his celebrity name to the event, Mr. Mitchell worked tirelessly throughout the year to raise awareness and funds. He loved our patients, and our patients loved him. His contributions to our community reach far beyond LLS, and we look forward to recognizing his outstanding efforts on March 22nd.
