Thank you to our co-Chairs, Dr. James Davis and Candy Duncan, and amazing Executive Committee for helping to make the 26^th Annual Leukemia Ball a night to remember!

On Saturday, March 23^rd, close to 1,800 local business leaders, blood cancer survivors and advocates raised $2.75 million! During the program, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) recognized Biotechnology Industry Organization in partnership with Genentech as the 2013 Presenting Sponsor and thanked them for their incredible support of the LLS mission. Human Genome Sciences was also recognized as the evening’s Mission Sponsor. Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the Laborers’ Charitable Foundation received special recognition as the 2013 Titans of Business & Philanthropy. LLS thanks all of the above companies for their incredible generosity and commitment to providing hope to thousands of cancer patients. 　

Congratulations was given to Tamara Darvish the recipient of the James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award. LLS is proud to recognize her extraordinary dedication and commitment to the LLS mission and the community at large.

Festivities included performances by comedian Dana Carvey and Jim Belushi and The Sacred Hearts Band, along with the popular Mercedes-Benz raffle drawing in which lucky ticket holders won a 2013 GL450 4MATIC (Grand Prize) and a C250 Sports Sedan (First Prize). Throughout the evening, guests bid on more than 500 world-class silent auction items and packages adorning the area just outside of the Grand Ballroom, such as sports and movie memorabilia, spa and beauty treatments and exotic travel packages with airfare provided by American Airlines, the official airline of the 2013 Leukemia Ball.

On Saturday, March 23rd, more than 2,000 area business leaders gathered at the 26th annual Leukemia Ball to raise money for innovative, life-saving cancer research and patient programs funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Dana Carvey and Jim Belushi & the Sacred Hearts band, brought their talents back to D.C. for the 2013 event – dubbed Saturday Night Blues.

Both of these Saturday Night Live alumni performed at the Leukemia Ball in the past, although this is the first time they will be at the event together. Known for his impressions of George H.W. Bush, and SNL characters Garth and the Church Lady, Carvey headlined the event in 1999 and entertained guests with his unique stand-up routine in 2013. For the past seven years, Belushi and the Sacred Hearts have performed their signature blues and soul sound and undoubtedly had the crowd on their feet.
